The University of Wyoming hockey club, fresh off a disappointing showing against the University of Colorado, returns to the ice this weekend against the United States Air Force Academy club squad.
The Cowboys (11-9) and Falcons (9-4) meet at 9:30 p.m. Friday at the Laramie Community Ice Arena and at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Taco John's Events Center in Cheyenne. The teams split a pair of games in October at Colorado Springs, Colo.
UW will be attempting to rebound from a pair of setbacks to the Buffaloes, who won 5-1 and 11-3 last weekend in a pivotal series between two of the top five teams in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division III Pacific Region.
Following the losses, the Cowboys slipped from No. 4 to No. 5 in the regional rankings. Northern Arizona University (20-2) remains No. 1, followed by Dordt College of Iowa (17-4), Colorado (13-4-1) and College of the Canyons of California (12-3).
Against the Buffaloes, Willie Forbes (Casper), Cody Leeper (Jackson), Craig Luplow (Banner) and Shawn Rockey (Rock Springs) scored goals for UW. Ryan Allred (Laramie), Graham Barrett (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Erik Blomberg (Parker, Colo.) and Brandon Moore (Littleton, Colo.) recorded assists.
